A Developmental Edit Of Your Genre Fiction Novel

About:

Want some concrete advice to help you write the best possible novel?

A developmental edit isn't about catching grammar and spelling mistakes. This is about developing your story. I am here to help you turn your okay or even decent story into one that grips your readers.

Are you struggling with point of view? Engaging in head hopping? These are just some of the problems that writers run into when they tackle the challenge of writing a novel.

What I look for?

  • The Theme of the Story.
  • The Elements of the Story. How are the hook, premise, character arc, structure, twist, pacing, etc. contributing to the telling?
  • Other Craft Elements. If you are writing genre fiction there are certain tropes and conventions that readers expect. If you don't meet those expectations then you are going to have some very unhappy reviews on your work.

Expect a ton of support for the things you've done right and some practical advice to make your storytelling stronger. I understand how incredibly daunting it is to write a novel and how intimidated we get at the thought of putting it out there to be judged by the world.

Fay delivered her services in timely fashion, exactly as promised. Her notes and feedback are very constructive and transparent, which will certainly help the project moving forward. She is clearly very knowledgable of the narrative market and provided useful advice for navigating publication in the near future.

:

It was more of a proofread than a developmental edit.

She delivered exactly the kind of help and advice I was looking for in a timely manner. I will definitely be using her services again in the future!

:

Faywriter met all of my expectations. She provided me with great feedback that I believe will help make my story better and did it all within the time allotted. I enjoyed reading the writeup that she provided, and when I followed up with a question, she told me what her preference would be and why she felt that way. I will definitely come back and use her services again when I craft new stories.

:

Great work and helped bring a lot of clarity to my project. I actually fired my previous editor who asked me to completely rewrite the book. It's a good thing I didn't!
